“You’re not going to make me wear a blindfold, are you?” Harley asked when they were on their way to their next destination.
“No, besides you can probably guess where we’re going,” he replied.
“Well, I hope we’re going home,” she said as she slid closer to him and kissed his neck.
“Keep guessing,” he laughed.
“Okay, well, let’s see. You wanted me to wear the same dress I wore on our first date, then you gave me the same flowers as that night and we ate at the same restaurant, so my guess is we’ll be jumping the gate at the beach again,” she guessed and Gus nodded and smiled.
“I don’t think we’ll get rained on tonight through,” he replied.
A few minutes later, they pulled into the deserted parking lot of the beach and Gus got out to open up her car door. They walked over to the gate and Gus helped her over. It was a little too early in the year for the beach to be open at night, so it had closed hours before, leaving them all alone. He took of his suit jacket and put it around her then took her hand and led her down a pathway to the same beach they came to on their first date. When they finally reached it, Gus stopped walking and Harley looked at him, before she followed his gaze. Set up on the beach was a blanket and a picnic basket set in front of what would be a small fire as soon as Gus lit it.
“Did you do this?” she asked as she led him over to the blanket and he lit the fire.
“Well, I had some help. We owe Blake and Ross a free night of babysitting,” he laughed.
“Oh, great,” she smiled and sat down on the blanket, pulling him down with her. “What do we have here?” she asked as she peeked into the picnic basket.
Gus pulled out a bottle of wine and a platter of assorted desserts that the bartender put together for him. “Wine?” he asked and she nodded.
He poured her glass and handed it to her then poured one for himself. He got out a fork that thankfully, Blake had thought to include, and held it up in between him and Harley.
“What would you like to try first?” he asked.
“Hmm…that one,” she said, pointing to a caramel apple tart and he dug the fork it and brought a bite up to her mouth. “That is good, really good,” she nodded and took the fork from him to feed him a bite too. “What do you think?”
“It’s good, but you know I’m not a big fan of dessert with fruit in it,” he teased and turned the plate so that the piece of chocolate cake was in front of Harley and she put some on the fork for him. “Now that’s what I’m talking about,” he replied after licking his lips and she laughed.
After a few more minutes, they had tried all of the desserts and Gus had finished the chocolate cake then laid back on the blanket and pulled Harley back with him, moaning and rubbing his stomach.
“I think I ate too much,” he said.
“I can’t believe that,” Harley laughed, “That cake stayed on the plate for a whole five minutes,” she teased. “Want to work it off?” she asked and kissed his neck.
“How?”
“Dance with me,” she suggested and pulled him to his feet.
“We already danced tonight,” he said, holding her close.
“I know, but now we’re alone. How private is this beach anyway?” she asked as she started unbuttoning his shirt.
“Very, very private,” he whispered as she pushed his shirt off of his shoulders and then he helped her take his jacket off.
Gus pulled her back into his arms and ran his hands up and down her back after he unzipped her dress. He hooked the thin straps with his fingers and pulled them over shoulders, making the dress fall to the ground. They had both already taken off their shoes, so Gus stepped forward out of his pants when Harley pushed them down and she went with him as he urged her backwards to the blanket. He laid her down gently and climbed on top of her, kissing her deeply. She ran her hands down his back and pulled at his briefs. He lifted himself off of her and slowly pulled her thong down her legs, following it with kisses, concentrating on the moist center between her legs. When he had tossed the thong away, she pushed him down on the blanket and straddled his legs. She turned her attention to his chest, kissing it and trailed her tongue down the middle of his chest to below his belly button. She stroked him through the thin fabric of his underwear and Gus put his hands on her shoulders, pulling her back up to him. They struggled together to get his briefs off and when he was finally free of them, Harley straddled his hips and lowered herself onto him. She ran her hands up his chest and pushed his arms up above his head and kissed him passionately. She moved above him for awhile until he rolled them over and took control. She lifted her hips in response to his and their rhythm increased until they both cried out in release and settled into each other’s arms, trying to catch their breath.
“We made love on the beach on our wedding night too,” Harley said after a few minutes of silent caressing and kissing.
“I remember,” Gus nodded. “We should make this a yearly occurrence,” he suggested.
“Sounds good to me,” she smiled and snuggled closer into his chest as she got a chill and shivered, even with the fire creating some heat.
He didn’t think to have Blake bring another blanket, so he reached for his jacket and spread it over them as much as he could.
“Guess we’ll have to get dressed soon,” he said and kissed Harley’s forehead.
“We probably should anyway. Our luck, some security guard will just happen to come see where the fire is coming from. That would get us into enough trouble, public indecency would not look good for two cops,” she laughed.
“You’re right, but let’s just lay here for a little longer,” he suggested as he ran his under over Harley’s naked body under his jacket while he kissed her. “Happy Anniversary.”
“Happy Anniversary,” she replied and rested her head on his chest.

“Hey guys, come on in,” Gus said when he opened their front door the next afternoon and let Blake, Ross and their children into the house. “Zach’s out back and us men are on grill duty,” he informed Ross and they all followed him into the kitchen.
Gus and Ross took the kids outside and started the burgers on the grill while Harley and Blake stayed in the kitchen, getting some other things ready.
“Why did we decide to barbeque again instead of just me and you going to dinner?” Blake asked as she got lettuce out of the refrigerator and started making a salad.
“Because it is a beautiful day outside and the kids wanted to play together,” Harley answered.
“Yeah, but I wanted to hear all about your date with Mallet,” Blake whined.
“Blake, it was not a date, please don’t call it that,” Harley rolled her eyes. “Besides, you can ask me questions in front of Gus, he knows all about it.”
“Well, here’s one thing I can’t ask in front of Gus: Were there any sparks?” she asked.
“Between me and Mallet?” Harley asked. “No. Not at all. And to be honest, I kind of expected there to be something, but there was nothing. I saw him and I felt…nothing.”
“You see the guy for the first time in what, eight years and you feel nothing? The first love of your life?”
“Not the first, not the love of my life at all,” Harley corrected her. “I don’t know, I just felt like I meeting an acquaintance. He’s not the man I married, and I’m not the woman he married. I’m not angry with him, and I don’t feel anything for him. Which I kind of feel bad about, I should at least still love him on some level, right?”
“Not necessarily,” Blake shrugged.
“Well, anyway, it was nice. We had dinner, we talked, he came back here and met Gus and the kids, then he went back to his hotel. End of story.”
“He met Gus?”
“Yeah, I think that was good. I think it was important for him to realize where I am in my life and that I am happy and very much taken. And I wanted Gus to meet him, I didn’t want our contact to be a secret or anything. It was really fine.”
“Good. Do you think you’ll see him again?” Blake asked.
“No, I don’t think I will,” she said confidently. “Oh, thanks for helping Gus last night. It was so sweet.”
“Oh you’re welcome. He’s so romantic, I hope you rewarded him well,” Blake winked.
“Oh don’t worry, he was well compensated,” Harley laughed and they joined their husbands in the backyard.
“No, besides you can probably guess where we’re going,” he replied.
“Well, I hope we’re going home,” she said as she slid closer to him and kissed his neck.
